Call it what it is

19 Nov

Between 1775 and 1783, the “Rebels” fought for their independence against British colonists. What do we call that movement? That’s right; it’s called a struggle for independence. Why is that? The world apparently believes in the principles of freedom, equality and self-determination which lead to an inclination in favour of struggles for independence against an occupying force. So can anyone tell me what possible reasons compelled the United Nations and its masters, particularly the United States, to back the Israeli occupying forces in Palestine, on the pretext of self-defence? Also, I could just be illiterate but I’m pretty sure what the term self-defense entails is a need to protect yourself from the threat of an invading or potentially violent force. Considering the fact that Israel is an occupying force (no, I’m not just referring to what is apparently legitimately deemed the ‘State of Israel’) which is ever-ready on increasing its settlements, I don’t really understand how they can even begin to say that the genocide of Palestinians is simply self-defence. And yes, if you’re not calling it genocide, then there’s something seriously wrong with your interpretation of the word. The Holocaust was a clear example of genocide. When ethnic cleansing happened in 1991, we called it genocide. So why can’t the world accept the fact that this is not a war between equals; this is not a war in self-defence. Infact, this isn’t a war at all. This is a massacre. One side has no army, no air force, no navy, no heavy military equipment supplied by the United States, let alone a supposed nuclear program. So don’t fool yourself and say Israel is a state acting in self-defence. We harp on and on about terrorism and yet we forget the notion of state terrorism. This is what it is; no other way to say it. To support innocent civilians on either side is a moral obligation the world cannot deny or shy away from. But the next time you call Hamas a terrorist organization, try and remember that they have democratically represented the Gaza strip, as a consequence of winning an election the same way President Obama just won the US election (so don’t even begin to say that the election was undemocratic).  Ask yourselves if you should, as human beings, sit around and justify the deaths of innocent people (on either side) for your own political/religious convictions.

This is undoubtedly a sheer violation of international laws, let alone the humanistic values. The drastically devastative nature of attacks launched of late by Israel against Palestinian territory, coupled with indifferent diplomatic behaviour of US, is enough of an evidence to believe that the beast of terrorism has metamorphosed into the form that easily evades identification yet operate to its full might. The ostensible mum of the Muslim countries over this still outstanding issue is aiding the perpetrators to unleash flurry of relentless attacks. It is high time we rose above all our ranks and did all in our powers to contain the stemming tide of blatant massacrre of Muslims.

Hi. I am Miraj Bokhari your new follower. Your article is analytical with due stress on justice equality and freedom. In USA around 45 millions people are living on food stamps with rising unemployment. Obama is the hero of this colony But he ignores the poor and suppressed people of Palestine dragging them into hunger and aggression. How does Obama entails credibility within and outside USA?
